

Barbara Slaughter Scott, 78, of San Antonio, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on August 27, 1932, to Glenn Bolger and Grace Naomi Simmons, in Harlingen, TX, and later adopted by William Monroe Slaughter. Preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 49 years, Carlie W. Scott, Barbara is survived by three children: Debra Scott Chaney and husband, Samuel Chaney, Amy Scott Doyle, all of San Antonio, and James P. Scott, of Manhattan Beach, CA; eight grandchildren: Melody, Zachary and wife Jessica, Chelsea, Jeremy, and Quincy Chaney, and Allison, Jeffrey, and Jonathan Doyle; and one great-grandchild: Jjenya Chaney. She is also survived by a host of loving friends and relatives.
An accomplished musician, Mrs. Scott was a board member of the International Accordionists & Teachers Guild, active in the Texas and San Antonio accordion communities, and taught at Bulverde Academy of Music.
