

Barbara Joan Travis, of San Antonio, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. She was a lifelong resident of San Antonio and born on March 20, 1936, to parents Gordon A. Riebe and Anna Marie Pavelka Riebe.
Barbara was a graduate of Providence High School in 1954 and Our Lady of the Lake University in 1959. She was an elementary teacher in San Antonio for 35 years and enriched the lives of many children. In her retirement she spent her time traveling and watercolor painting. She also cared for her mother until her death at the age of 101.
Barbara was a fun loving and generous aunt to her niece and nephews and their children. She was a true blessing and enriched our lives in so many ways over the years. She always had a smile and brightened any room she entered.
Barbara was a woman of great faith and was active member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church women’s the Alter Society.
Barbara was proceeded in death by her husband, Lon W. Travis, parents and nephew, Norman Riebe. She is survived by her brother, William Riebe and wife Betty and sister, Beverly Keller. Niece, Joan Johnson and husband, Max, Nephews, Lawrence Keller III and wife Jackie, Martin Keller and wife Heather, Andrew Keller and wife Brenda, Keith Riebe and wife Kim, Mark Travis, Suzanne Strayhorn, Michelle Anderson. Great nieces and nephews, SFC (Ret.) William McMunn, Jordan Frantzen, Tyler and Jacob Johnson, Angeles, Mikayla and Mikenzie Keller, Margaret, and Allison Riebe. We want to thank Barbara’s caregivers, Virginia, Irene, and Kelly who over the last few years have attended to her needs with love and compassion.
