

Beloved wife and mother and dedicated volunteer Barbara Jane Godwin Wilder, passed away on March 26, 2016 at her home in San Antonio after a courageous battle with cancer. Barbara was born on May 13, 1946 in Atlanta, Georgia to Martha and Lamar Godwin. She grew up in Jonesboro, Georgia and attended the University of Georgia. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Ed Wilder, and their two sons, Al Wilder and wife Melissa (Pittman) of San Antonio, and Steve Wilder and wife Sue (Mitan) of Troy, Illinois. Barbara was blessed with grandson, Justin, granddaughters, Shannon, Ezra, and Shirley; and great-grandchildren, Scarlette and Samuel. She is also survived by her sisters, Kay Godwin Graves and Peggy Godwin Hutcheson; and her brother, Robert Godwin.
Barbara was an active volunteer and community member. A dedicated member of the Assistance League of San Antonio, she contributed to Thrift House, Operation School Bell, Togs for Tots, and Adopt a Resident. Her many contributions were recognized with the Assistance League's "Above and Beyond" Award. In addition, she was active in the Holly Garden Club and served as President of the San Antonio Garden Center. Barbara was a running enthusiast, running with the San Antonio Road Runners in races from 5Ks to Marathons, often placing among the winners in her age group. Known for her warmth, quick smile and humor, Barbara will be missed by many close friends.
