

He was born on September 21, 1927 in Atascosa County, Texas to Maudie Rogers Johnson and Claude Dallas Johnson.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Angela Ruth Johnson, daughter, Cheryl Anne Watson, and brother, Jack P. Johnson.
He is survived by his children Barry Lance Johnson, Karen Banks and husband Tom, Kathy Johnson and husband Paul DiTullio, Jessica Leighton and husband Nick, Felicia Lakie and husband Kenny, and Roland Johnson and wife Sashaun; brother, Claude D. Johnson, Jr. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
After graduating from high school during WWII, Barry joined the U.S. Navy as a V-5 aviation cadet, but the war ended before he ever served in combat. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Barry attended the University of Texas at Austin, graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He formed his own engineering firm, Barry F. Johnson, Inc., and for more than 50 years he was a practicing engineer, mainly specializing in the design and installation of heating and air-conditioning systems for commercial buildings.
Energetic and adventurous, Barry was always fascinated by flight. He enjoyed flying small planes and eventually obtained his instrument rating. He traveled throughout the U.S. for work and pleasure.
Barry's family traced their roots to the American Revolution and early Texas settlers. He knew many family stories, passed down from generation to generation, and he enjoyed retelling these stories to family and friends.
Barry enjoyed a full life and will be remembered for his sense of humor and his spirit of fun.
A celebration of Barry's life will be held on January 30, 2016 at 2:00 p.m.
