Barry was a highly regarded pinball game designer. Upon graduating from high school, Barry began his long and illustrious career designing pinballs for Williams, starting in 1978 with his first game, Phoenix and ending in 1996 with Junkyard. In-between he designed many landmark titles including Gorgar, the first speaking game, Space Shuttle – widely credited with saving the pinball business in the mid-’80s – as well as the Comet–Cyclone–Hurricane trilogy based on rides at the Riverview amusement park in Chicago, and Pinbot which also went on to spawn two sequels. He went on to work with Heighway Pinball, Deeproot, and was most recently contracted by American Pinball to design games.

Barry was an amazing cook and taught his daughter Melissa all his favorite recipes. Which she has passed down to her children. He had a number of games he designed in his basement and he and his son Nick would always challenge each other to see who could beat the others score. Barry also had a great love of music with an extensive vinyl and CD collection.
