Baudelia "Bea" Alfaro, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, daughter, sister, friend, and beloved member of her community, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2024 at Elan Westpointe Assisted Living in New Braunfels, Texas. She was reunited with her late husband of 57 years Julio Alfaro as she embarked on her journey beyond this life.
Born in San Antonio, Texas on May 20,1933, Bea was the youngest daughter of nine siblings. She is survived by her brother Ramiro Martinez, who will hold dear the memories they shared throughout their lives.
Bea's legacy is one of boundless love and devotion to her family. She leaves behind a heritage of love, warmth, and unwavering support. She was the proud mother of three children: son, Julio Alfaro, Jr. and wife Sofie; daughter Esther Rodriguez and husband Rene; and daughter Mary Lou Shows and husband Von. Bea found immense joy in her role as a grandmother, doting on her seven grandchildren: Stephanie Padgett, Carlos Martinez, Zandra Leitch, Lauren Rowe, Jordan Alfaro, Camryn and Jezell Shows. Additionally, she was a great-grandmother to six who will forever cherish the love and wisdom she imparted to them.
Throughout her life, Bea exemplified a spirit of service, dedicating herself to others both professionally and personally. She graduated valedictorian from Somerset High School in 1950 and then went on to pursue college, studying business at Durham's Business College in San Antonio, TX. She then joined her husband Julio at Fort Lewis in Washington State, while he was serving in the U.S. Army. Upon completion of his tour duty, they returned to San Antonio where she began to raise her children. Once her children were all in school she decided to return to the workforce. She worked for the Harlandale ISD at Columbia Heights Elementary School as a School Secretary for 15 years. In 1985, she decided to pursue another career path with the U.S. Federal Government, Kelly AFB, TX and held the position of an Administrative Assistant in the Contracting Office and retired in 1995, leaving a lasting impact on those she served.
However, it was her profound faith as a devout follower of Christ that illuminated her path. Bea found solace and strength in prayer, embracing the principles of redemption and steadfastly following God's plans. Her unwavering belief in the power of faith infused every aspect of her life, guiding her actions with love, compassion, and grace. Bea will be fondly remembered as a beacon of faith whose spiritual devotion touched the lives of all who knew her.
Family was the heartbeat of Bea's life, and nothing brought her greater happiness than seeing her loved ones together, sharing laughter, and creating cherished memories. She delighted in trips to the casinos, playful games like LCR (Left Center Right), Bingo and scratching lottery tickets, often reveling in her wins with contagious joy. Bea had a passion for food, relishing every opportunity to indulge in delicious meals. She cherished moments spent conversing with friends over the phone and relished in the companionship of her best friend, Natalia Rodriguez. In her leisure time, Bea found solace in watching Western TV shows, expressing her creativity through painting, and challenging her mind with word searches.
As we mourn Bea's passing, may we take solace in the enduring love and cherished memories she leaves behind. Her legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness may continue to inspire us all.
In honoring Bea's life, may we remember her with fondness and celebrate the countless ways she enriched our lives. Though she may no longer be with us in body, her spirit will live on eternally in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
