Ben, you have been a part of my life for so long, and I find myself wondering what it will be like to not be able to email you or call you. Thank you for sharing your life with my family and I. You and Arlene have always been so gracious to us, and managed to always make us feel welcome. You were always there for my sons, and for that I will be forever grateful. They took heed at all the knowledge you shared with them. You will be truly missed, but never, ever forgotten. Forever your sister-in-law and friend. Lynda

Uncle Benny, Well, you're in Heaven now watching over all of us - that's comforting to know. We will all miss you so very much. Every time I think of you; I think of the big breakfasts we would all have, with the bagels and lox, and the huge jar of chupa chups that you had on your kitchen counter. You will never be forgotten. Uncle Benny was and will continue to be a role model for me. I truly admire the way he lived his life, he loved and appreciated everything with intensity. Some of my best memories that I reflect upon in my daily life, were made because of him. Uncle Benny was always an encouragement to me. During my time at the academy, I received phone calls from him, and he alluded to the idea that he was calling to make sure that I was "staying in line" but I knew he was calling because he cared for me and wanted me to be sucessful. Upon graduation, he sent me a card, congratulating me on my accomplishment and wished Karen and I the best of everything. Though this scenario might be uneventful to some, it was never that to Karen and I. Uncle Bennys care and concern for us was true blue, and we always felt loved by him. Uncle Benny was the man all men should aspire to be like. I hope he knew how important he was to me and most importantly how much my Family and I loved him.

Arlene - You and Ben were some of the nicest neighbors we could have had before we left WOD. We have missed you both. Thank you for your friendliness and perhaps we shall meet again. Emily Armstrong always spoke highly of Benny to me. Wish we'd known you in El Paso. Sincerely, Noelle and Aubrey

I would like to offer my sincerest condolences to Arlene and the entire Zarate Family. I was a young sales representative in the paper division of Procter and Gamble in El Paso, Texas 1979-1984 when Ben took me under his wing and helped me out in my new job. He was the ultimate professional salesman that earned the respect of his colleagues and buyers. He always had my admiration. May God bless his soul. Thank you, Carlos Loweree.

Ben is a great person and friend. I will miss him greatly, especially when I come to St Andrew to visit. He truely walked by faith!

I am so so saddend by Ben's passing. I will echo what many people already know...Ben was a wonderful decent guy. Ben played a key a part in my getting a job when I really needed one. His helpful attitude as a colleague and friend was always appreciated. There is not enough space to describe adequately how much I appreciated him and all he did for me. My husband, John and I were shocked when we saw the obituary for Benny. We were in the Class of 1960 at Burges and we have contacted some of the classmates to let them know about Benny. Dearest Zarate Family; My heart, warmth and hugs go out to you during this most saddened time in your life. Ben was a great man and I truly enjoyed his wisdom, leadership and guidance as a friend. I loved my Uncle Ben. There was no one that loved or admired more.Ben always had a way of making me and my sister Amy feel connected to the rest of the family. He always made sure to make me and Amy feel like we were not alone, that we were not the only Zarates.Ben was great, and I hope that one day I will be as great a man as my Uncle Ben..Uncle Ben we loved you, and we will miss you.

We were stunned to hear about the loss of Ben. A person who always had a smile and was willing to lend an ear whenever we met. We will miss you Ben but know that you will always be in our hearts. You treated us as apart of your family when we visited San Antonio and will forever remember the wonderful times we spent with you in El Paso. Thank you for all your great advice and we will cherish those words forever.
