Both were born in Houston on April 12, 1947 to Alfred and Esther (Levinson) Fischman. One Bernie - the best known one - was a distinguished legal scholar, a lawyer's lawyer and fierce advocate for his clients, no matter how small or hopeless the case. That was "Bernie the Attorney."
The other Bernie was a gentle, generous fun-loving and passionate man who loved his family and friends even more than he loved the law. And they loved him in equal measure in return.
Bernie is survived by his wife of 42 years, Terri (Horwitz) Fischman; his son Eric of Los Angeles; his daughter Brynn Ginsberg and son-in-law David Ginsberg and his grandchildren Dylan and Marin, all of Dallas; his devoted legal assistant Kandice Thomas; and his brother Lawrence Fischman of Dallas.
He loved limericks risqu, Dreadful puns were his fort; By his clients he was revered,
(Though some judges thought his humor weird);
We'll miss him, what else can we say?
