Bess G. Kraft age 86 of San Antonio, died Thursday, February 12, 2009. She was born August 7, 1922 in Lincoln, Nebraska, she married Al Kraft in 1940.
They moved to New York City for the duration of World War II. She worked in a PX while Al worked at the Port of Embarcation. After the War, Al was discharged in San Antonio where they decided to remain. In 1947, they established Kraft Cleaners which today remains in the family.
Bess was a former member of Congregation Agudas Achim. She held offices in the Jewish Federation and Sisterhood. Bess also sponsored immigrant families as they began their new lives here. She was preceded in death by her husband, of 56 years, Al and her sister, Molly Kleckner of Pittsburg, PA.
She is survived by her sons, Leland Kraft and wife, Kelly, and Barry Kraft; grandsons, Joseph L. Kraft and Derrick Kraft and his wife, Veronica; great grandchild, Jonathan L. Kraft; brother, Sam Grunger; and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be missed.
