Although she leaves behind a sad family, everyone is comforted that she is joining her savior, Jesus Christ, and Earl, her dear husband of 49 years. Mom was born in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, on December 26, 1927, and after marrying Earl, traveled with him and their seven children across the world for the U.S. Air Force.
Among the enduring gifts that she gave to her children and grandchildren are her loving sprit and positive outlook on life. Her devotion to creating a happy and faith-filled home for her family meant that the Blum house was always filled with love, laughter, good food, and music, and was the gathering place in the neighborhood for children, and later, teenagers, many of whom came for her advice.
A longtime member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, she was involved in ministry to Vietnamese immigrants, and with her husband, Earl, in the St. Vincent DePaul Society, feeding the hungry as Jesus did, delivering food and helping to provide for families throughout San Antonio.
Betty is survived by six children and their spouses, Carl and RosaAna Blum, Peggy and Michael Colby, Connie and David Sadowski, Elizabeth and Frank Casso, Judy and George Simpson, Pam and Dennis Camosy, as well as fourteen grandchildren, and one great-grandson. She is also survived by a sister, Jeanette Boser, and many nieces and nephews.
The family thanks Dr. Michael Natalino for the care that he has provided to our mother through the years.
In lieu of flowers, please bless Betty's favorite charity with a donation to the St. Vincent DePaul Society of St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3303 Urban Crest, San Antonio, TX 78209.
