She was born July 23, 1921 in Cincinnati, Ohio to George and Adelia Mittendorf Johns and was raised in Ft. Thomas, KY.
In 1940, she married Bernard Lee Large, Sr. of Castlewood, VA.
As an Army wife, she and her husband traveled throughout the world and settled in San Antonio in January, 1948.
A beloved wife, mother and grandmother, she is survived by her husband, Lt. Col. Bernard L. Large, Sr.; daughters, Sharon and husband, Wilbur Valentine of Towson, MD, Deborah Large and husband, Mark Miller; sons, Bernard Large, Jr., Jeffrey Large and wife, Lynda, Tracy Large and wife, Kara; 7 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
