Betty grew up on dairy farms in the San Antonio area and was an avid athlete who played any sport that she could. After graduating from Edison High School in 1948, Betty went to work for American Hospital and Life (later American Security Life Insurance Company), eventually rising without a college education to become a Vice President prior to her retirement in 1989.
Betty was known by all for her smile that would light up a room, kindness, and generosity of spirit. She was an integral part of the lives of her nieces, nephews and cousins. Betty rarely missed an occasion to spend time with her family. In her spare time, Betty loved bowling, reading, and being outdoors, especially Garner Park and the Blue Hole in Wimberley. She also enjoyed taking her family to the McCreless cabins in Estes Park, Colorado. Betty loved to get in her car and drive anywhere. She viewed speed limits as a mere suggestion.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Stark, Sr. and Edith Lewis Stark; brother, Albert Stark, Jr., and longtime friend, Olive Branton. She is survived by sister, Peggy Busch and husband Charles; sister, Carol Teat and husband Charles; sister-in-law, Dorothy Stark as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who were blessed to be a part of her life.
Betty made a lasting impression on all who knew her, and she will live on in the hearts of her friends and family.
