Joan was born on June 15, 1932, in Tipton, Indiana, to Velma Lee and Dallas Andrews. She grew up wrapped in the love of a close family, and she carried that same kindness, dedication, and generous heart with her everywhere she went. Anyone who spent even a little time with her could feel how deeply she cared. Her faith in Jesus wasn’t just something she talked about, it was evident in the way she lived, loved, and inspired all every single day.
Joan was preceded in death by the absolute love of her life and best friend, Charles Weiss; her loving parents, Velma Lee and Dallas Andrews; her 3 brothers, Robert Andrews, Melvin “Jean” Andrews, and Raymond Andrews; and her precious grandson, Bobby Hall.
She leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory: her daughter, Carolyn Hall and husband SMSgt Robert Hall (Ret); her son, SSG Andrew Weiss (Ret) and partner Sandra; and her daughter, Liz Smith and husband John. Joan was a proud grandmother to April and husband TSgt Charles Hutchens (Ret), Anthony Myers and wife Tianna, and TSgt. Christopher Hall and wife Fiona. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren Ashley, Andrew, Destiny, Chase, Abby, Anna, and Lucas, who brought her immense joy.
Joan was a woman of many talents and passions. She was an exceptional hand quilter and a skilled seamstress, and she also enjoyed using her God given talents to serve others by knitting and crocheting beautiful pieces for Threads of Love FHS & the Prayer Shawl Ministry at Community Bible Church, where she was a member. Her creativity and craftsmanship were a source of pride and comfort to those around her. She dedicated herself to serving God through a Prayer Quilt Ministry that she was led to start in NJ where she made and gifted over 150 prayer quilts to those who were in need of a tangible way to feel the love of God. Joan also loved traveling and was fortunate to explore many places around the world, always returning home with stories and memories to share.
A generous and compassionate person, Joan dedicated time volunteering with numerous organizations throughout her life. She found great fulfillment in helping others and making a positive impact in her community, in the name of Jesus.
Joan will be remembered for her unwavering faith in God, her warm heart, her creative spirit, and the love she shared with her family and friends. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the beautiful memories she leaves behind.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved by all who knew her.
