Betty Lucile White

Our beloved Betty Lou passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at the beautiful age of 89. Betty was born August 12, 1935, in Del Rio, Texas to Mark Sr. And Birdie Lucile Perryman. She grew up in Quemado, Texas helping her “Momma” and “Daddy” at Perryman Grocery, sweeping the floor with sawdust everyday to help open the store. When she was at the tender age of 16, she gave birth to her son Paul Eugene Perryman. Her son later became the Chief Investigator for the DA’s office in Eagle Pass, Texas. The office later was named the “Paul E. Perryman” Municipal Building, which brought pride and joy to Betty. A few years after the birth of her son, Paul, Baby Vickie was born, to only live 11 days.

While Paul was staying with “Baby” (Lucile) and Mark Sr. , she went to university in Uvalde, Texas. This is where she met a strapping young man named Waller Hickman White from Fentress, Texas. They were swept up in bliss and were soon married on September 1, 1957 at Eagle Pass Methodist Church. The couple then began pursuing their careers in education. Betty taught English, Word and Data Processing, and Business. Her passion was helping her students “get a job” right out of high school, after successfully completing her course. After a long career teaching, her and her “Hicky-Bob” retired to their residence in Terrell Heights, where they resided over 50 years.

In later years Boo (Betty) and Hick enjoyed watching their grandchildren play with the “Crazy Daisy”, Slip-n-Slide, and a game or two of baseball, in the backyard. They would host gatherings and many holidays with family and friends. She enjoyed eating Tacos Al Carbon paired with a frozen margarita in a “fancy glass” at the local La Fondas. She also enjoyed “girl time” where she would visit Clinique counters, Dillard, and Birkenstock.

She cherished time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, friends, and neighbors. She was bold and sassy. “Oh Hunny” was her favorite line. You could always tell when she entered a room by the smell of Tresor, a bun on top of her head, arms full of ivory brackets, and the “famous” large framed glasses. She never met a stranger. She was the matriarch of her community and her many stories of her life and family history will be cherished and missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents Mark Sr. And Lucile Perryman, brother Mark Jr., son Paul E. Perryman, and daughter Baby Vickie. She is survived by her Grandchildren, Vicki Perryman (Tommy) Rathburn of Thrall, Texas, Darla Jolene Perryman of Austin, Texas; Great Grandchildren, Derrick Paul (KRISTIN aka the author) Burgess of Corpus Christi, Texas, Bryan (Anna) Perryman of Austin, Texas, Samantha (Justin) Katicich of Corpus Christi,Texas, Courtney Stiffler of Thrall, Texas, Tyler Perryman and Christopher Holden of Austin, Texas; Great-Great Grandchildren, Adlea Lucile Burgess (little Lucile), Jeremy Paul Katicich, Aubrey Katicich, and Kasen Paul Burgess ( little Paul).

The family will be having a private memorial service. She will be laid to rest at West Lawn Cemetery in Del Rio, Texas.
