Beverly Ann (Yendrey) Basile, born August 6, 1956, a devout Roman Catholic, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2012 after a long battle with carcinoid cancer. She was 56 years old. Born in Ganado, TX, to Chester and Mary ‘Betty’ Yendrey, she grew up in Edna, TX. She graduated from Texas A&M University in December 1977 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology. She married David Basile in Houston, TX, on November 10, 1979 and they have celebrated 33 wonderful wedded years together. After moving around the US for several years while David was in the US Navy, she settled in Yoakum, TX, in 1987, where she taught Science and other classes at St. Joseph’s Catholic School for 12 years. She professed into the Secular Franciscan Order in Victoria, TX in August 1991, later transferring to the fraternity at Mission San Jose in San Antonio. She spent 20 years as a volunteer leader in the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Camp Fire Scouts. She moved with her family to San Antonio, TX in 1999 and continued her teaching career at Holy Spirit Catholic School, where she taught middle school Science for 12 years. Her illness ended her teaching career in 2010. She is preceded in death by her father, Chester. She is survived by her mother, Betty, brother Arthur (Diane) Yendrey, sister Rena (David) Lawson, husband David, children Daniel (Lacy) Basile, Joseph Basile, Bartholomew Basile, Mary Basile and Anthony Basile, two grandsons and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank all the many doctors, nurses and care givers throughout San Antonio, Texas and the US who gave Beverly so much tender care through the six years she fought her carcinoid cancer. Visitation will be held at The Shrine of St. Padre Pio of Pietrelcina, 3843 Bulverde Parkway beginning at 6:30 P.M. on Thursday, August 23, 2012, followed by recitation of a Franciscan Crown Rosary at 7:00 P.M. So sad to find out about Beverly, I have not seen or heard from her or her family since we left Edna, in 1966...
We were neighbors on Cypress st us across the street from the post office that was our grandparents house and they lived one house down on the corner across from the old jail where my paw-paw was a sheriff back in the 50's. We had so much fun fun playing . Where it be in their drive way playing chase or in our bushed that was a fort for Douglas and Arthur or a playhouse for me and Beverly or watching Bateman and robin, Arthur and are the same age, Douglas and Beverly were the same and youngest brother Ralph and Rene were the same age... I am so very sorry, please know that I will continue to keep y'all in my prayers.. Please pass this On to Mrs Yendry, Arthur and Rene... God Bless each of y'all

Mrs. Basile taught me religion and science at St. Joseph. She was the first teacher to teach me about a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I will always remember going to our "heart room" and talking to Jesus. It was the most meaningful thing I learned about Christ during my years at St. Joe. She was an amazing lady and I am so thankful for her life and her influence on mine. My prayers and deepest sympathies go out to her family.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. We knew Beverly through St. Joseph Catholic Church and school in Yoakum, Texas.
