Beverly Ann (Yendrey) Basile, born August 6, 1956, a devout Roman Catholic, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2012 after a long battle with carcinoid cancer. She was 56 years old. Born in Ganado, TX, to Chester and Mary ‘Betty’ Yendrey, she grew up in Edna, TX. She graduated from Texas A&M University in December 1977 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology. She married David Basile in Houston, TX, on November 10, 1979 and they have celebrated 33 wonderful wedded years together. After moving around the US for several years while David was in the US Navy, she settled in Yoakum, TX, in 1987, where she taught Science and other classes at St. Joseph’s Catholic School for 12 years. She professed into the Secular Franciscan Order in Victoria, TX in August 1991, later transferring to the fraternity at Mission San Jose in San Antonio. She spent 20 years as a volunteer leader in the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Camp Fire Scouts. She moved with her family to San Antonio, TX in 1999 and continued her teaching career at Holy Spirit Catholic School, where she taught middle school Science for 12 years. Her illness ended her teaching career in 2010. She is preceded in death by her father, Chester. She is survived by her mother, Betty, brother Arthur (Diane) Yendrey, sister Rena (David) Lawson, husband David, children Daniel (Lacy) Basile, Joseph Basile, Bartholomew Basile, Mary Basile and Anthony Basile, two grandsons and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank all the many doctors, nurses and care givers throughout San Antonio, Texas and the US who gave Beverly so much tender care through the six years she fought her carcinoid cancer. Visitation will be held at The Shrine of St. Padre Pio of Pietrelcina, 3843 Bulverde Parkway beginning at 6:30 P.M. on Thursday, August 23, 2012, followed by recitation of a Franciscan Crown Rosary at 7:00 P.M. Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, August 24, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at the shrine, Msgr. Patrick Ragsdale presiding.
