Words cannot express the fullness of a life well-lived. Beverly Moore returned to Christ on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at the age of 82, leaving behind 4 generations of a loving family. She passed away peacefully at her home with her husband of 60 years, her children, and grandchildren by her side.
Beverly was born January 4, 1940, in San Antonio, the daughter of Lee and Beulah (Maywald) Wick. She graduated from Harlandale High School and attended Abilene Christian College. While back in San Antonio, she and her friends were at the Princess Drive-in on Broadway, and she met a handsome young man named Chet Moore who was in training at Randolph Air Force Base. That night, she told her friends that she was going to marry that man some day. They spent every day together until he had to return to Plattsburgh AFB in New York, but not before he asked for her hand in marriage. Chet and Beverly were married on October 7, 1961, and have been in love ever since.
As a wife of a service man, Beverly was experienced at moving, living in five different states. She received her Bachelor’s and Master of Arts in Teaching from New Mexico State University and a Master in Education from Our Lady of the Lake. She worked as a teacher at Washington Elementary in Las Cruces, New Mexico, Kirby Elementary and then as a Vice-Principal at Miller’s Point in the Judson School District. She loved her students and co-workers.
In addition to her career in education, she opened and owned Beverly’s Bridal for several years. Beverly was extremely creative, always decorating, remodeling their home, painting, quilting, sewing, and doing different crafts. In 1999, she began decorating eggs, from finch to ostrich eggs. She and her new friends, the “Egg Ladies,” met weekly for over 20 years working on decorating eggs together. She was a strong and beautiful lady with a heart for service as she poured her love into her church and family. She grew up in the Church of Christ and has been a member of the Mac Arthur Park church since 1980. She and Chet were known for hosting many parties at their home, especially the infamous New Year’s Eve parties as well as family birthdays and holidays.
Beverly actively volunteered in many capacities during her life. She and Chet taught Bible classes, worked with the bus ministry, led Bible Hour which included a puppet ministry in which they made their own puppets, stage, skits, props and costumes, cooked dinner for over 140 people every week for years, volunteered at the Mac Arthur Park Care Cottage, and many things behind the scenes.
Known as “Granny” to the grandkids, she loved decorating Easter Eggs, painting rocks, reading, and just having fun with them. She loved it when the granddogs would come to see her and she never hesitated to tell everyone about her white kitty which she called “Precious” and Chet called “Trouble.”
Beverly is now in heaven with her parents, her second mother, Lois Wick, her siblings Wanda Adair, Ken Wick, Donna Tobias and brothers-in-law, Vern Tobias, Jim Tabor and Don Adair.
She is survived by her husband, Chet, her children, Terri and Steve Woods, KaCey and Krista Moore, Suzi and Ivan Kaminsky, Jay Moore; her grandchildren, Kiley Woods, Tayla and Andrew Moore, Darci Woods, Kennedy Moore, Kamryn Moore and Garrett Kaminsky; a great-granddaughter that she loved so much, Halia Moore and another great-granddaughter due next month. She is also survived by her siblings, Larry and Barbara Royal, Sandra Tabor, and Danell and Steve Foster and many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Beverly lived a full life. We love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to your local church, Meals on Wheels San Antonio or Tunnel for Towers in Beverly’s honor.
A private graveside service for Beverly will be held Monday, August 29, 2022, at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach, San Antonio, TX 78209.
