Bill passed on Friday, May 20th, 2016 surrounded by his loved ones. Bill had worked in print advertising for many years and has been retired since 2005 due to a disability (congestive heart failure). He loved to laugh and had a particular affinity for sarcasm. Sharp wit always won his heart. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with BS in Political Science, but only chose to discuss politics with a few close friends, never pursue a career in them. Classical music was his primary choice and he spent many years as a season ticketholder to the San Antonio Symphony performances at the Majestic Theater. He loved to share those tickets with someone who was always joyfully surprised to find they would not only be going, but sit on the front row. He enjoyed the eclectic. If it was odd, strange, or just plain interesting, you could be sure he would get that gleam in his eye to find out more. As many of us do, he loved to look at beautiful things. He would snap a picture at midnight of a moonflower in bloom just to share with those that didn't happen to be awake at that hour. He was sure to call if he stepped outside and found an awe-inspiring full moon on the rise. He had many fond memories of pictures in front of Multnomah Falls near Portland, OR. This will be his final resting place. He is preceded in death by both his parents and his brother Bob. He is survived by his wife Linda Hopkins, daughter Christina Hopkins, grandchildren Victoria and Christian Townley, his siblings Susan, Patricia, and Homer, and his nieces and nephews Wesley, Ray, and Lynn.
Church service will be held at 3:00 pm May 28, 2016 at Parkhills Baptist Church with a reception to follow at his home.
