Billie Anne Dahl

Billie was born in Humboldt, Tennessee to Joseph Benjamin Ragsdale and Isabel Elaine Wright. She grew up in Memphis, Jackson and Meeman -Shelby Forest State Park. She moved from Tennessee to California with her family during WWII so that her father could help with the war effort at Norton AFB.

Billie married Thomas Milton Richards June 10,1949 in Monrovia, California. She and Tom were married until his death in 1986. She worked as a bookkeeper for the family business, T&R Sewer, until they retired. After retirement Billie and Tom worked in Yellowstone National Park for several years. In 1989, she married Robert Arnold Dahl in Yuma, Arizona. They remained married until his death in 2001.

Billie had a lifelong love of music and was a member of both the High Jolly and Enchanted Messa chapters of Sweet Adelines in Arizona and New Mexico. She later joined Young at Heart Gospel Choir in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She traveled and performed with them until she moved to Texas with her daughter and son-in-law in 2018. Billie was an artist, quilter, a “competitive” card player and loved to travel. She was blessed to have traveled to Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Austria, Hungary, The Bahamas, and her favorite, Israel.

Billie was preceded in death by parents Isabel Theisen and Joseph Ragsdale. Husbands Thomas Richards and Robert Dahl, granddaughter-in-law Veronica Alexander, brothers Joseph Ragsdale Jr., John Thomas Ragsdale, and sister Virginia Anderson.

Billie is survived by daughters Linda Alexander (Fred), Sue Messa (Peter), and Kathleen Mahoney (Michael). Grandchildren Julianne Kinney (Ryan), April Largaespada (Carlos), Thomas Alexander, Kristi Breiten (Brad), Timothy Alexander (Rosalinda), Joshua Torrance (Emily), Gregory Messa (Georgette), Mark Messa, and Kevin Messa. 18 great-grandchildren and 1great-great grandchild, Uncle John Ragsdale, and sister Linda Mueller. Numerous nieces and nephews and wonderful friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date with interment to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
