June 22, 1926 – June 12, 2020
Blanca Martinez Cueto passed away on June 12, 2020 surrounded by her family in San Antonio, Texas. She was ten days short of her 94th birthday. She left this mortal plane with grace and dignity on her own terms. Born in Spain and raised in Cuba, she married Richard Cueto in New York, subsequently moving to Mexico City where they built a wonderful life together for their family for almost forty years. She was a strong beautiful woman filled with a positive joy of life. She counted friends, good friends, from every walk of life. She had strong opinions but life taught her wisdom and to keep an open mind to change. Ever stylish, she encouraged, coaxed, supported and loved her family and friends till the very end. Family was the most important part of Blanca’s life. Being together with family for holidays or traveling to Chile, Argentina, Alaska, Spain, France or the Canary Islands in her 80’s and early 90’s was her joy and the joy of all who traveled with her. She was the first out the door in the morning and the last to turn in at night. Her energy, enthusiasm and humor influenced everyone around. To travel with her was to see the world through her eyes. And what a view it was! She is predeceased by her husband Richard Cueto and her son-inlaw Ralph Vasek. She is survived by her five children: Marguerite Cueto and husband Frank Coppola; Richard Cueto and wife Raquel Ramirez-Cueto; Elizabeth Cueto-Vasek; Cathleen Cueto-Means and Christine Cueto and wife Maggie Esteva; as well as four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
