

Blasa Tamez, born in Bustamante, N. L. Mexico on September 5, 1912, was called by the Lord Friday, December 11, 2009 at the age of 97.
She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Miss Tamez was a dress designer for over 70 years, creating over 200 coronation robes for the royalty of the Order of the Alamo and out of town debutantes.
Miss Tamez traveled widely in the U. S. and abroad, including the wedding of then Princess Elizabeth to whom she presented trousseau items.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Blasa G. Tamez; father, Santiago Tamez; her sisters, Tillie Tamez Whitt, Maria Teresa Ballesteros and Maria T. Flores; and her brother, Daniel Tamez.
Miss Tamez is survived by her nieces and nephews, Esther Whitt Nelson, Margo Whitt Olson, Homer Whitt, Jr., Alfredo Flores, Jr., Sr. Maria Teresa Flores, Mary Lou Tamez Johnson, Norma Whitt Head, Irma Tamez Thomas, Diana Flores Boffa, Daniel Tamez, Josie Tamez Culpepper and their spouses and 30 grand nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express its gratitude to Christus Hospice Care, Maria Hernandez, Teresa Guerrero, Lupe Morales and Tere Valdez, who lovingly cared for our dear aunt to the end of her life.
