Born Bobbi Jo Archibald to her loving parents, Barbara (Ames) Paul and Bruce Archibald, in Newport News, Virginia; she passed away surrounded by her children after a lengthy and well-fought battle for her health. She is predeceased by her brother, Brian Archibald, stepfather, Robert Paul, stepbrother, Brian Irons, as well as her nieces, Angel and Georgia. Bobbi Jo is survived by her parents; stepmother, Fran Archibald; her four children, Emily Jean Ramos, Gabriella Marie Ramos, Corinna Grace Ramos, and John Rocco Ramos; as well as her nephews, Austin Archibald, Shane Archibald, Bailey Archibald and Casey Archibald.
Bobbi Jo’s youth was enjoyed with her brother, Brian, as military brats living in Germany and Colorado Springs, ultimately settling down in San Antonio, Texas. It was here she met the father of her children, John Ramos, and her mother-in-law, Norma Montalvo.
She studied biology at UTSA and had a passion for science and astronomy. However, if you asked Bobbi Jo her life’s calling, she would have said, “being a mom.” Her kids would tell you it was also where she shined the brightest. Bobbi Jo was very devoted to her children’s education, signing up for PTA, chaperoning field trips, and always volunteering to act as chauffeur to their friends. She was also an avid cook and baker; her favorite dishes to make were chuck roast, any kind of soup, and birthday cakes. Outside of motherhood, her favorite occupations were in the HEB photo department, working at Patriot Heights retirement community, and being a student; with an honorable mention to the time she spent as her daughter’s volleyball coach.
Bobbi Jo’s heart was permanently open to any animal or person in need; taking in neighborhood kids for daycare, and helping her children care for the strays they found and begged to keep. She loved to read the same books as her daughters, to be creative anytime she got the opportunity, and to spend time with her sweet cat, Olive.
Authenticity came naturally to Bobbi Jo. She unapologetically opened her heart to the world around her, no matter the circumstances. Even throughout her most challenging days, her love for life and her family shone a light through the darkness.
Her resilience in the face of insurmountable illness remained unwavering, and will live on as a beacon of hope to all who knew her.
A Funeral Service will take place on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at 3:00 pm at Porter Loring Mortuary West. Please celebrate Bobbi Jo's personality and wear spring/bright colors to the service.
