

He was a graduate of Brackenridge High School and proudly served in the US Army during WWII.
He earned his Bachelor and Master degrees from Trinity University, where he met his wife, June Ebert.
In the 1950's and 1960's, Bobby was coach and teacher at Lanier High School. He was school administrator at Whittier Jr. High School and in 1985, completed his educational career retiring at Randolph High School.
Bobby enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son, Don Byrd, who proudly continues his father's legacy as Head Football Coach at Alamo Heights High School.
Bobby is preceded in death by his brother, Bubba Byrd and is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, June Byrd; loving son, Don Byrd and wife, Mary; four grandchildren: Brooke, Brittany, Jessica and Patrick; brothers, Bill and Dicky Byrd; and sister, Patsy Logan.
Bobby was an honorable, well respected man who will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Visitation will be held Sunday, August 17th from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be sent to Gridiron Heroes, P. O. Box 507, Schertz, Texas 78154.
Interment in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
