She loved the water and found peace near it; whether spending time at the family’s property in Leakey, Texas, or living near the Gulf Coast in Portland. Sundays often meant church then beach trips with her family, soaking up the sunshine and the joy of being together.
She especially loved the holidays, when family gathered to enjoy food, watch football, and play card games that filled the house with laughter. Raising her children in the church and keeping faith at the center of family life were deeply important to her. Her warmth and love for family made every gathering special.
She dedicated over 30 years to the fuel transportation industry, rising through the ranks from Office Manager to Terminal Manager at Texas TransEastern. We were especially proud when she became the first woman to hold the position of Terminal Manager at the company.
Her greatest pride and joy were her grandchildren—Madison Montgomery, the first to graduate college from Texas State and begin her career; Lauren Montgomery, whose faith and adventurous spirit led her to missionary work and graduation from Texas A&M; Hayven Harrison, who spent summers and trips with her in Leakey, played collegiate soccer, and graduated from the University of Kansas; and Nathan Harsh, her only grandson, who held a very special place in her heart.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Joe Harsh, with whom she shared nearly 60 years of marriage; her loving children, Dana Montgomery and husband Brett Montgomery, David Harsh and wife Alicia Harsh, and Kristen Harsh Harrison; her cherished grandchildren; and her niece, Michelle Wanke and husband Karl Wanke.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Margaret Ulbright; her sister, Shirley Scheer and husband Reine Scheer; and her niece, Debbie Dolle Russell.
She will be remembered for her generous heart, her love of family, and the joy she found in simple, beautiful moments—by the water, around a table, or in the company of those she loved most. Her legacy of love and laughter will live on through her family and all who knew her.
A celebration of Bonnie’s life will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at San Pedro Presbyterian Church, 14900 San Pedro Ave., San Antonio, Texas 78232.
