He was born in New Jersey on January 30, 1986 and grew up in the Philadelphia and Chicago areas. Growing up he played soccer and the guitar. He was very involved in his church youth group and did mission trips across the country and world, helping build houses in underprivileged communities. He learned to scuba dive at the age of 14 and was certified on the Great Barrier Reef, Australia. Over the years he also dove at multiple Caribbean sites. Brad was always very creative and artistic, which led to him having a passion for glass art.
As an adult Brad lived in Colorado, Arizona, Oregon, and San Antonio. He moved around so much over the years that he called his glass business "Nomad Glass". He started blowing glass in Durango, Colorado in his early 20s and continued to do so in San Antonio. He did additional study at Dale Chihuly's Pilchuck Glass School in Washington State. He created many beautiful pieces. While living in Oregon he worked at Mt. Hood Meadows and also grew medical marijuana. He also worked construction over the years.
Brad liked to explore his passions and enjoyed going to concerts, snowboarding, getting tattoos, and being with his friends. He loved his "Willie Nelson" braids when his hair was longer.
In recent years, he had several health challenges and had been living with his parents during his extensive recovery. As he was starting to explore his options for moving out and finding a job, he passed in his sleep due to heart failure.
He is survived by his parents, Norm and Cindy, his sister and brother-in-law, Jeanine and Andrew, and his nephew, Dillon.
We ask that his family and friends share any fond memories and photos they have on his Tribute Wall found on this website.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pilchuck Glass School at www.pilchuck.org in memory of Brad Capitani.
A Celebration of Life open house will be Sunday, February 27 from 2:00pm-5:00pm.
