Brent Lewis Bridges, age 29, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2015. Brent was born on July 4, 1986 to Barry and Londa Bridges in San Antonio, Texas. He was a loving brother to his two sisters, Dr. Brooke Knowlton of Cibolo, TX and Brianna Bridges of Austin, TX.
Brent is a 2004 graduate of Douglas MacArthur High School in San Antonio, Texas. Following high school, he moved to San Marcos where he began studying criminal justice at Texas State University. In the fall of 2008, Brent enrolled into The San Antonio College Regional Fire Academy to pursue a career in the fire service. He graduated with membership in the Phi Theta Cappa Honor Society. In May of 2009 Brent began volunteering at Spring Branch Volunteer Fire Department. Months later he was hired on as a fulltime firefighter and continued his career with Spring Branch Fire Department and Bulverde Fire Department (later Spring Branch-Bulverde Fire Department). During this time Brent purchased his home in Canyon Lake, Texas. Brent helped form the local chapter of International Association of Firefighters and was elected by his peers as the first President. Mutual friends introduced him to the love of his life, Julie Worsham. He began to work part time in Blanco Volunteer Fire Department to help pay for his wedding. In the fall of 2014 Brent was hired on at Canyon Lake Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife, Julie Bridges; parents, Barry and Londa Bridges; sister, Brooke Knowlton and husband, Chris; sister, Brianna Bridges; his faithful companion, Buddy; and extended family too numerous to mention. Brent's wishes were that the remains of the donations to Keep Calm Be Brent Strong Go Fund Me account be used to provide cancer screenings for firefighters and their families and to provide assistance to those in the battle with cancer. Brent and Julie were passionate about education and an additional wish for firefighter education grew over the past few months. A foundation is being established and funded beyond his wildest dreams to fulfill the legacy.
