

Brian James Meissner, son of the late James R. and Barbara Meissner, a devoted family man, a lifetime member of Mt Calvary Lutheran Church, and lifelong resident of San Antonio, Texas, passed away on December 27, 2024, at the age of 72. He was surrounded by the love of his family and friends.
Brian is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Ann Meissner; his sons, James Meissner (and wife Robyn, along with their son Easton) and David Meissner (and wife Amanda, with their children Mila and Connor). He is also survived by his brother Marc Meissner and wife Joy, as well as their daughters Brooke (husband Garrett and their children Raven and Killian) and Courtney (husband Robert). Brian leaves behind a large extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends and co-workers who will cherish his memory.
Born on July 30, 1952, in Alamo Heights, Brian graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in May 1976 with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. His career began in 1977 at Sommers Drug Store, which later became Eckerd Drug Store and eventually CVS Pharmacy. Brian dedicated 40 years to his profession before retiring in 2017.
Outside of work, Brian pursued many passions. He loved hunting in South Texas, fishing, and spending time in the great outdoors. A talented musician, he played keyboards for the rock band (Emerald) from 1985 to 1988, opening up for renowned acts such as Stevie Ray Vaughan and Guns N’ Roses. Above all, Brian was a dedicated father who coached his sons in Little League and shared with them his love for hunting and fishing.
A viewing will be held on January 9, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home on Austin Highway. A funeral service will take place at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in San Antonio on January 10, 2025, at 11:30 a.m., followed by burial at Sunset Cemetery, and reception to follow.
Brian’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
