It isn’t easy to find people in this world as genuine and kindhearted as Briana.
I’ve been taking lessons from Briana for five years. Many teachers I’ve worked with were strict and harsh in their teaching methods, but Briana always took a gentle approach. I thought my path was to reach perfection in every aspect of my technique, otherwise I wasn’t doing enough or I had failed, but she made me realize that’s not what playing the violin is about. While I was getting so wrapped up in the idea of reaching perfection, I had forgotten why I chose this instrument in the first place; to have fun. She made me re-love my instrument and was a beautiful example that you can be an effective teacher without being strict or harsh.
When I showed up for my last lesson with Briana, she had recently had surgery. She said, “They told me I may never be able to play my violin again and I was so scared! This is my whole life, I don’t know what I’d do without it.” I could see the sadness and fear in her eyes when she said that. I could see myself in her because I too have the same fear.
I ended up having three spine surgeries while Briana halted lessons and was confronted with the possibility of my own death. We were both in and out of the hospital for our own issues, but it was comforting to know that we could talk to each other knowing we shared similar experiences to an extent. I’d share my perspective on my situation and attitude toward my own health issues and how I handled them. She always told me she admired my attitude, but I think hers was most worth admiring.
She sent me snail mail while I was in the hospital, but I had gotten it late. I ended up sending my letter back days before she passed. She never got to read mine, but I’ll never forget what she wrote me,
“I know in my heart that both of us will play again”. It makes me sad that we didn’t get to make it out of this together, but I know God has reserved a place for her and her violin in Heaven. I miss you, rest in peace💗🌻

Briana was a wonderful person, full of kindness, caring, poise, grace, and great strength. One of my fondest memories is when I joined the family in New York City. I was so impressed with how Briana carried herself. In fact, a couple of times I had to do a doubletake, mistaking my younger cousin for a confident, seasoned New Yorker walking alongside us. She was always so giving, always caring about others. Briana will always be missed in our family, but we will ensure her memory lives on.

My niece Briana is and was a brilliant light. So beautiful in every way. Art and music came to you seamlessly at such a young age, you saw what was. A thousand things to say about a person who so personified life and love. You made us laugh and love like no other. We will miss you forever and always.

You were such a force from the very beginning, always bring inspiration and magic to us as kids, running around on our countless adventures and it didn’t stop there. Your kindness and love of life always left me in awe, especially as we got older, it only grew.  I miss you so much but count my self as one of the luckiest to have had you in my life, although it was much too short. Your laugh and funny words of wisdoms will forever be playing in my head. Rest easy my amazing cousin, I love you.

She was so kind to my son as his viola teacher. He lost his mother to cancer when he was young and she had such a nurturing spirit toward him. I will never ever forget that.

Briana's influences, continue in our lives and I am so honored to be one of her aunts. She never showed arrogance or vanity although accomplished to be one of the best through  self disciplined hard work,  I enjoyed her and her sister’s performances. She was always so gentle, patient and thoughtful of others even through suffering, always acknowledging others with her beautiful smile and spirit. Beautiful Briana will never be forgotten here on Earth. We will meet again in Heaven.

I was a colleague of Brianna’s’ and so enjoyed making music with her. She shone with an inner light that drew everyone to her. I will forever remember her talent, innate kindness, and dignity. Her love with Basel was obvious to all and, though I never met them, her boys are the living embodiment of that love. May they be surrounded and supported by the love of many hearts throughout  their lives. May she rest in peace 💕🌹

With Love in Our Hearts we release Briana into The Arms of Jesus  and Heaven.  But we Hold on to The Memories,  The Blessings, and The Love of Briana, until we Meet Her once Again in Heaven. Ms. Briana is one of the kindest, most generous, and sincere people I have ever known. We met her ten years ago, when we first moved to San Antonio. We feel so grateful to have known her. Her enthusiasm, patience, and love for teaching made music lessons truly enjoyable. We will always treasure the little moments we shared with her.

A good memory of Briana on violin,  Matt on mandolin, and Mike on guitar playing Ashoken Farewell in our backyard. It's dark but you can hear it well enough. So beautiful.  I regret that I did not record the whole song.

This photo was taken of  Briana and Basel when they played Ashoken Farewell at my husband's funeral. I met Briana through my husband, Mike, who found Basel on Craigslist in 2018 when he was searching for a voice teacher. It wasn't long before Mike and Basel became good friends who enjoyed long conversations after each lesson. Mike enjoyed getting to know Briana as well on his lesson days- he loved to hear her play violin and she loved to hear him sing.  Eventually the four of us became friends and I was initiated into the group with Basel's Arabic breakfast. After my husband died in 2023,  Briana asked we could get together once a week and take walks and talk about life, marriage, mothering, which we did. Our conversations took a turn a year later when she told me she had cancer and that she didn't know how long she had left in this world (we agreed that we all should live with this thought). We spent our last year of walk and talks sharing about life and death and how even though she knew she was dying, she was learning how to really  live. In one of our recent text exchanges we were sharing about how we both had been crying and grieving over losses we'd suffered, (I was crying for myself, feeling sorry for myself) but she said something I will never forget: 
"I was crying not for myself but over the thought of all the hardships and challenges my family would experience if I pass. After a good cry I always feel better, I am so thankful that God never lets me be in that state too long. I usually come away remembering to cherish and take care of that eternal part of me that will never die. That I may have lost my old identities, things I held onto...but when you start losing those things one finds a deep and beautiful treasure in Christ."
Farewell my friend, who always looked up to our heavenly Father and turned your eyes to our Lord as an example of how to suffer. You suffered well! I will miss our walks and talks. I will miss seeing the world through your eyes.

This is the day I got to meet my cousin’s daughter Briana and her son Johnny four years ago when my dad and I visited Texas. After her diagnosis, we began texting each other. Her strength and kindness were remarkable to me. We bonded over many things, one of them being David Byrne and Talking Heads. She also took the time to write me a letter thanking me for being in her life. I was so surprised. I haven’t received a letter in probably 35 years and she was thanking me! She was the most kind girl and I marveled how she handled herself with such grace and cared so much for other people. I will miss our spirited texts. I will always keep her in my heart.

Mary Jane, Greg & Livy - I am  at a loss of words over the passing of sweet Brianna. My heart is filled with so many memories of her as a precious child, playing her violin, her and Livy playing and all of you together on Bond Street with Kyra, it does make me smile. I do hope you can celebrate her life. She had become an amazing woman, wife, mother and teacher. Her legacy will live on with each of you and her family. Please hold them close. Be kind to each other now and during this incomprehensible time.  I send love, strength & prayer today and always.

My dearest friend, Briana. You are one of the bravest people I have ever known. You lived with a vibrancy that was so fun and contagious—rarely encountered in life. You personified grace in the face of suffering and are wise beyond your years. You taught me so much about living... but also about dying with dignity. Briana filled our children with music and joy. Her kindness, beauty, stories and sparkle made our children fall in love with the violin again. We will never forget her light, her laughter, and her faith. We pray for her husband, sons, and family as they carry her spirit forward.

Briana has been such a beautiful teacher, godly mentor, and dear friend to our family! She taught our children, William, Grace and Laura, for 7 years. Going to see Mrs. Briana was always one of the highlights of our weeks! She inspired, encouraged and loved our children so well. Although she was an amazing teacher, she was an even better mother. It was always evident that she was so intentional with and proud of her boys! She loved Jesus the most and exuded His light and love! She shone brightest when she was walking through this past year. Even though she was walking through the valley of the shadow of death, she did not fear evil, because she knew God, her Good Shepherd, was with her.

I have so many memories of the two sisters presenting “concerts” for Madame Kyra, my mother and neighbor of the Pages. They were so serious and intent.  It was not too beautiful at the beginning but they persevered.  And before too long they had quite a repertoire and were fine musicians.
Years later Briana stood up at Madame Kyra’s memorial service and played a beautiful requiem.  She had such talent and passion.
This wonderful young woman— a wife, mother, sister, daughter, teacher and friend— was a shining light to all who were lucky enough to know her and spend time with her.
Godspeed, sweet Briana.  Madame Kyra is waiting for another concert.

Dear Briana,
You were more than my cousin — you were my sister in spirit, my childhood companion, and a bright light in my life. 

It’s hard to understand why someone with such warmth, kindness, and strength had to leave so soon. But your love remains — in the smiles of your beautiful boys, in the stories we tell, and in every heart you’ve touched.

You will always hold a big piece of my heart and I will carry your memory with me always, and honor you by living with the same grace and courage that you showed every day.

You are deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

Briana was so beautiful inside and out. She taught my son, Oliver, violin for 3 years. Oliver truly loved going to lessons. She brightened our days with her joy. We are honored to have known such a kind and caring soul. We will miss her deeply.

Dear Briana, your sweet nature will be missed by many.  You brought joy and love  to your family and friends.  I will cherish our musical memories.  You have gone ahead of us to play in the heavenly orchestra.  Until we meet again, To Paradise now may the angels lead you, may the martyrs come to welcome you on your way and lead you to the holy city, Jerusalem.  May the choirs of angels welcome you and with Lazarus, who once was poor, may you have everlasting rest.  You take our love with you sweet friend...
