

Bruce "Willie" G. Medeiros, Sr. of New Braunfels passed away on July 8, 2013 at the age of 78. Bruce was born in New Bedford, MA on April 2, 1935. Bruce remained physically active in his entire life. He enjoyed going to Friday night jam sessions at the Shantiki Bar in Canyon Lake. His greatest hero was Willie Nelson whom he longed to meet in person. He could sing and play just like Willie. Bruce married Donnajane Van Heck in 1958. He was a Peace Officer and served in the Air Force and later the Army Reserve. Bruce enjoyed working outdoors and around the home that he shared with his son, Jon and daughter-in-law, Kat. He enjoyed being a Mason and was a member of the Anchor Lodge in San Antonio. Bruce enjoyed reading and was knowledgeable of Native American history and explored his Scottish heritage as a member of the Scottish Society of San Antonio. He also enjoyed taking care of his three horses and riding his motorcycle. Bruce was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Jane Van Heck Medeiros; parents, Gilbert Medeiros and Althea (Bosworth) Medeiros; sons, James Medeiros and Gilbert A. Medeiros. He is survived by his sons, Robert, Jon, Williard, and Bruce, Jr.; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; daughters Kat and Laura; adopted sons, Darryl Augustine and Steve Oropeza; adopted brother, Charles W. Keller; adopted sister, Cheryl Lowe. Services will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
