

Carl Douglas Brown was born on November 5, 1928 in Goose Creek, Texas and went to be with the Lord on June 21, 2017. Doug was the second of four children born to Boyce and Lillian Brown. He graduated high school in Cleburne, Texas in 1946 and went to work for the Magnolia Petroleum Company in Fort Worth, Texas the following year.
Doug was called to serve in the United States Army in 1950 and completed his service in 1952. That same year, Doug married the love of his life, Lota Faye Chaney, on February 23, 1952. They shared the next 65 years together and raised two sons. Doug returned to Magnolia Petroleum Company, (later to become Mobil Oil), immediately after his discharge from the army. Mobil transferred Doug to Abilene, Texas in 1954, where he and Lota started a family. He attended college at night for the next six years, and graduated from Hardin- Simmons University in May of 1961. Doug had a long and productive career in Field Operations with Mobil that took him to several stops in Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. He moved for the final time in 1972 to San Antonio, Texas, and retired in 1990 after 42 years of service. Doug was a longtime member and elder for the MacArthur Park Church of Christ. He dedicated his life to serving God and he will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Doug is preceded in passing by his parents, Boyce and Lillian Brown; brother, L.D. Brown; wife, Lota Brown. He is survived by sons, Mark Brown, Phil Brown and wife Kim; brother, Donald Brown; grandchildren, Erin Freytag and husband Kolby, Emily Brown; and great-grandchild, Emery Freytag.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 25, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
