He served 23 years in the Marine Corps and retired as a First Sergeant. While serving in the Marine Corps, he was certified as an electrician and a plumber. After retiring he worked for Stanley Smith Security and then for the Regional Transportation Authority in Corpus Christi as a bus operator and was a certified instructor for bus operators. For four years he ran a ceramic shop in Corpus Christi with his wife Janie. In 1995 they moved to Arkansas.
He is survived by his wife Mary Jane; his brother Frank and wife Christina of Fitchburg, Massachusetts; his sister Joan Klemaszewski and husband Len of Brookhaven, Pennsylvania; four children, Gordon Page and wife Debbie, Karen Page, Dale Page and wife Melanie, and Carla Stovall; one stepson James Mickan and wife Suzannah; five grandchildren, Kerry and Kevin Stovall, Calindra Page, Cristal Mickan, and Amber Vaughan; and one great-grandchild Franklin Vaughan.
