

With great sorrow, we announce the passing of Carlos Christmas, 88, on January 24, 2025. Born on December 31, 1936, to Randolph and Mable (Parker) Christmas, Carlos lived a life of service, love, and generosity. He was a devoted family man, a proud U.S. Army veteran, and a compassionate nurse who touched countless lives throughout his time with us.
Carlos was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Mable; his father, Randolph; his sister, Evelyn Morris; and his son, Michael Christmas. He is survived by his wife, Orelia Christmas married 30 years; daughters, Bernadette Christmas, Sonia Christmas, and Carla Ann Christmas; his sons, Carlos Christmas Jr. and Mark Christmas; his stepdaughter, Natalie Bazan; and his stepsons, Juan Bazan and Frank Rodarte. Carlos is also deeply mourned by his 13 grandchildren, 4 stepchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren, all of whom will carry his memory forward.
Carlos proudly served his country as an Army Medic during the Vietnam War, completing two tours with the 2nd Airborne Battle 187th Infantry. Throughout his service, he was awarded numerous decorations, including the Vietnam Service Medal, Silver Service Star, Bronze Star Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnamese Cross, and the Parachutist Badge. He achieved the rank of First Sergeant (E8), a testament to his leadership and dedication.
Carlos went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and became a Registered Nurse. His gentle and caring nature made him a trusted figure in his profession.
Carlos had a zest for life and enjoyed simple pleasures, especially spending time with his family. He was an avid reader, loved walking and exercising, and enjoyed a good game of Bingo. But above all, he will be remembered for his smile, his infectious laughter, his big strong hugs, and the noble, sincere heart that he shared so freely with others.
Carlos Christmas leaves behind a rich legacy of love, service, and kindness. His spirit will live on in the countless lives he touched and in the memories of those who knew him best.
A visitation for Carlos will be held Tuesday, February 4, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, TX 78232, with a funeral service at 7:00 PM. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, February 5, 2025 from 2:45 PM to 3:15 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
