Carlos Gomez

Carlos "Chale" Gomez went to be with the Lord on September 14, 2012 at the age of 76. Chale graduated from Sidney Lanier High School with a full college scholarship and attended St. Mary's University. A swimming accident at the age of 20 caused paralysis of his entire body below the neck. His tragic loss of mobility interrupted his college education but did not take away his desire to learn and achieve. Chale persevered over his disabilities to acquire and maintain employment with a nurse placement agency and later operated a telephone answering service. With his keen intellect and a natural ability in math and accounting, Chale opened COMBUS, a bookkeeping and tax return business. His greatest pleasure was spending time with family. He enjoyed creating audio-video presentations and going to Las Vegas with family. Chale was an incredible man with a strong faith in God and a big heart. He had a persistent and infectious positive attitude and found pleasure in helping others. He deeply valued and loved his family and friends. He will be dearly missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Antonio Gomez and Francisca; and siblings, Tomas Gomez, Elodia Jasso and Jesse Gomez. Carlos is survived by his siblings, Antonio Gomez and Nora, Lydia Jacobs and the late Mike Jacobs, Angie Orozco and Richard, Alice Flores, his primary caregiver, Richard Gomez, Helen Vasquez and Dr. Ernesto Gomez and Judi; numerous nieces and nephews, including those who assisted with his care, Joyce Garcia, Eric Garcia, Adam Garcia, Aaron Garcia, and Christopher Perez. Visitation will be on Sunday, September 23, 2012 starting at 6:00 P.M. at University United Methodist Church.
