

Carlos Lewis Sr. was born to Ike and Peggy Lewis at Highland Park General Hospital (Highland Park MI) on July 20, 1968, at 12:40 pm. Carlos was a giving person with an impeccable work ethic. At a very young age he believed in God. He sang in the choir and was an acolyte at Lomax Temple A.M.E Zion Church of Detroit, MI. He attended Detroit and Poughkeepsie public schools; throughout High school, up until his graduation from East Catholic High school in Detroit, Michigan (1987). Carlos attended the National Institute of Technology where he earned a technical degree in electronic technology. He later moved to Poughkeepsie N.Y. where he obtained a position at Saint Francis Hospital, and eventually, moved to San Antonio, Texas where he worked at Brinks Home Security (ADT) for 19 years.
During his tenure at Brinks, he earned multiple licenses and became a National Burglar and Fire Alarm Associate Level 5 technician, the highest grade, all of which deemed him an expert in his career field. He was recognized for several years by his employer and received the honor of Technician of the Year for outstanding performance, his great work ethic and technical expertise.
Carlos gave his life to Christ and was baptized by Sr. Pastor Ray D Brown of Resurrection Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, brother friend and confidant. He enjoyed cooking and traveling as well as collecting and shooting firearms. He had a big heart, touched all the lives he came in contact with, and was always willing to help others. He loved his family; he was full of life, and he loved to laugh and make others laugh as well. After battling cancer for 12 years, God has called Carlos Home. He is now resting peacefully in the arms of the lord and is free of pain. We love you dearly and will miss you.
Carlos is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Jeanine. He is also survived by his three children: Carla Lewis, Carlos Lewis Jr., and Mya Lewis all of San Antonio, TX. One Grandson Donnovan Williams of San Antonio, TX and his parents Ike and Peggy Lewis of San Antonio, TX. One Sister, Yolanda Wilcox (Donald) of New Braunfels, TX, a brother Eric Lewis Sr. (Lisa) of Chesterfield Twp. MI. and Frances Anderson of Riverview MI. His eldest brother Roderick Lewis proceeded him in death. A host of Uncles, Aunties, Nephews, Nieces, Cousins and In-laws.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 11th from 4:30 -7:30 pm at the Porter Loring Mortuary, 2102 N. Loop 1604, and San Antonio, TX. Services will be held the next day at Redland Oaks Community Church, 16875 Jones Maltsberger Rd. San Antonio, TX 78247. A Repass will be held at Concordia Lutheran Church 16801 Huebner Rd. San Antonio, TX, 78258 immediately after the services.
