

After a brief illness, Carlos Elizondo Sanchez entered into the Lord's Kingdom on Saturday, October 20, 2007 at 7:30 p.m. Born March 10, 1939, in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico, Carlos immigrated with his family in 1953 to San Antonio. He naturalized as a US Citizen and served active military in the US Army from April 1963 to April 1965 and served US Army Reserve from April 1965 to April 1969. In 1965, he met his lifelong love, Dolores Lolita Fernandez Quesada, who became his wife in July of 1966. Carlos spent his professional career in consumer lending, retiring from the San Antonio Federal Credit Union as Assistant Vice President in 2001 after 22 years of service. He was preceded in death by his father, Francisco Sanchez Gutierrez de Lara; his mother, Maria Elena Elizondo de Sanchez and his brother, Eduardo Sanchez. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Lolita; his daughter and son-in-law, Cristina and William Jeremiah Hodde, son Carlos Rafael Sanchez and his fiancé, Noemi Avila. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Enrique and Alicia Sanchez, Francisco Sanchez, Carmen Paccione, Elena and Armando Trevino, Maria Eugenia Gallo widow of Eduardo, Fernando and Lydia Sanchez, Teresa and Tom Villegas, Alicia and Raul de la Garza, Guadalupe and Fernando Villa, Ricardo and Lilia Sanchez. He adored his three grandchildren: Katarina Izabella Hodde, Jacquelyn Nicole Hodde, and William Jeremiah Hodde, Jr. He is survived by his sisters-in-law: Angela Fernandez and Cristina and Jorge Beato. Blessed with family, Carlos is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family extends their deepest gratitude to Alan J. Merin, M.D. for his care and love, and to the nursing staff in the MICU at Methodist Hospital.
