At the age of 15, Carlos started what would become his lifelong passion in the construction industry for both residential and commercial sectors. Respected by all for his work ethic, leadership and level of intelligence, Carlos quickly rose to the position of General Superintendent for large and established construction companies, leading teams to create some of San Antonio’s most architecturally exquisite designs still visible today. Never one to rest on past successes, Carlos achieved his lifelong goal of creating and growing his own construction company, providing for his family while being his own boss for more than 15 years.
He was a true Cowboy, often reminiscing of his time with his grandpa on his ranch and his love of riding horses. An athlete in his school days, Carlos continued to enjoy a variety of sports but above all, was a lifelong San Antonio Spurs fan. Music was a large part of his life and he relished any time spent playing on his guitar and the accordion. His taste in music was eclectic and varied but if you knew Carlos, you knew The Beatles and The Eagles were his favorites – to listen to and play.
What Carlos was most proud of in his life was his family and he made sure everyone he met knew it. Meeting the love his life at the young age of 17 and marrying her two years later, Carlos always credited Angie for not only saving his life in every way a wife can but for loving him with the patience, forgiveness and unconditional love that allowed become the man he was. Always bragging to anyone who would listen, Carlos loved sharing his pride and admiration for his two daughters, Sandra and Christina, and the compassionate, beautiful, and successful women they grew into. Through his daughters Carlos gained the blessings of son-in-law’s Christopher and Nick, allowing Carlos the peace and comfort that his daughters would be cared for and loved in line with his high level of expectations. With all the family love already achieved, Carlos most loved his role as “Pampaw” to apple of his eyes, his grandson Carlos Anthony and granddaughter Angelina Renee. The joy these two added assured Carlos was surrounded by love, joy and support throughout his life.
