

Carmen M. Chapa went to join her Heavenly Father on May 28, 2026, at the age of 96. A resident of San Antonio for most of her life, she resided at the Gardens of Brookridge for the last year and a half.
Born to the late Raul and Serafina Martinez, Carmen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tom Chapa; her son, Thomas Chapa Jr.; and her brothers, Roy, Raymond, and Rudy Martinez.
Carmen worked at Joske's of Texas, where she met her husband. After marriage, she devoted herself wholeheartedly to being a loving wife, mother, and homemaker.
A woman of deep faith, Carmen was a longtime member of St. Gregory's Catholic Church and later attended St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Carmen (Jerry) Talbott (Tony) and Christine E. Chapa; grandchildren, Stacey Talbott Tovar (Scott) and Thomas H. Talbott; great-grandson, Matthew T. Talbott; and nephews, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John Chapa.
After raising her children, Carmen dedicated her time as a volunteer with the Blue Bird Society of Methodist Hospital, where she continued serving others with kindness and compassion.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and caregivers of the Gardens Memory Care Unit in Pharr, Texas, especially Zeke, Judy, Sandy, Sandra, Martha, Briana, Aaliyah, and Chef Darla, for their loving care, support, and compassion. Thanks to Amedysis Hospice for their care.
Carmen will be remembered for her devotion to family, her gentle spirit, and the love she shared with everyone around her. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, kindness, and enduring love that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
