Carmen Martinez passed away peacefully on Friday, August 7, 2015 at the age of 90. Carmen was born March 24, 1925 in Aguascalientes, Mexico to parents, Carlos Martinez Ruiz and Paulita Escalante De Martinez. Carmen was preceded in death by her three brothers, Carlos Martinez, Salvador Martinez and Catarino Martinez, and also one son, Ramiro Martinez. Carmen is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Roberto Martinez, her daughters, Josefina Salazar, Isabel Perez, Cynthia Villarreal (John P. Villarreal Jr.) and Irene Cantu (Koby Cantu). Carmen is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel, Monday, August 17, 2015 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00pm. A Funeral Mass will take place Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at 10:00am at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, 102 Lorenz, San Antonio, TX 78209 followed by a committal service at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. The family would like to give a special thanks to Vitas Hospice for the excellent care they gave Carmen.
