Carol graduated from her Champaign Central High School class in 1953. While working as a telephone operator at Chanute Field Air Force Base in Illinois, she met her beloved husband Robert G. Wooster, on a blind date. They were married for sixty-nine wonderful years and were blessed with three children, six grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
Carol’s life was full of adventure. During Bob’s 26-year naval career, the family lived and traveled throughout the United States and the World, including Asia and Europe. She was eager to learn about each place she traveled and embraced the culture and people. She was a strong, loving mother and raised three boys, often on her own, during Bob’s frequent six-to-twelve-month deployments.
Upon Bob’s retirement from the navy, they settled in San Antonio and began the next phase of their lives. She trained and became a dental hygienist and then assumed the role of office manager. At Eisenhower Middle School, she enjoyed her role as a special education assistant, always speaking fondly of her precious students. She eventually retired as administrative assistant to the school’s assistant principal.
Retirement gave her the opportunity to continue her love of travelling with Bob, as well as with the grandchildren. They took their RV across the country several times visiting family and friends, or more often to the coast with the grandkids.
Carol and Bob were lifelong Spurs fans and season ticket holders. Carol enjoyed bowling and was an accomplished member of many leagues. She was an avid cook and an excellent baker, and she enjoyed entertaining family and friends. Carol enjoyed classical music and was especially fond of the Nutcracker Suite.
Carol was an artist. She explored many art forms and eventually found her love and talent in porcelain china painting. She spent a lifetime studying to improve her abilities and for many years was a member and president of Alamo and River Valley Porcelain Arts Clubs. Carol loved animals, raising many beloved dachshunds, and enjoyed flowers, fruit, and exotic animals as subjects for her beautiful paintings, especially elephants and tigers.
She was preceded in death by her parents Maud and Kenneth L. Stahl; brother, Kenneth Lee Stahl; and granddaughter, Kristen Wooster. Carol is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Cheryl, Kevin and Linda, Kirk and Karen; grandchildren, Nick (Allie), Natalie (Amanda), Klara (Nathan), Kacey, and Kole; and great-granddaughter, Eleanor.
A Celebration of Life open house will be held on June 21, 2025, from 1:00 to 5:00 P.M., at the family residence.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Carol Sue to the Thrive Well Cancer Foundation located at 4383 Medical Drive, Suite 4068, San Antonio, Texas 78229.
