After high school, she headed to New York City to seek adventure. It was there she met and fell in love with Reuben Gross. They were married in Middletown in 1972. They lived in New York, Boston and Lyndonville, Vermont, pursuing Reuben's career. They got to San Antonio "as quickly as they could" in 1973.
After Reuben's death in 1977, Carole received her Masters Degree from St. Mary's University and fulfilled her dream of becoming a Marriage and Family Counselor.
She loved life! Carole traveled with her wild and crazy friends. She drank wine and played cards with her "Bridge Babes" and dined with her Supper Club.
Carole doted on her Chihuahua, Lily whom she rescued from a shelter. Carole cherished her friendship with Nancy Beard. She would want to give credit to her hairdresser of 32 years, Margie!
Carole will be greatly missed by her family: her stepson, Gary Gross and wife Lisa of Tyler and their daughters, Natalie, Sarah, Ashley and Abby; her niece Debbie and husband Ken Kitchen of Austin and their son, Kristopher and wife Carrie, and their daughter Kimberly; niece Anne Elliott of Houston; and her sister-in-law Pat Bowman of Monroe, Ohio and daughters Patty, Suzanne and Robin.
Carole loved animals and would wish donations in her memory made to the Humane Society of Bexar County, 4704 Fredericksburg Road, San Antonio, Texas 78229-3628.
