She was a Charter Member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, where she was on the board of The Green Door Thrift Shop.
Mrs. Nelson was also a member of the D.A.R.
Carolyn was a very devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Her church and family were the light of her life.
Mrs. Nelson appreciated the care she received from the staff at Brighton Gardens and her Physician, Dr. C. Scott Horn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Allen Nelson.
Survivors: daughter, Patricia Nelson Buchanan, Dallas, TX; son, Robert Allen Nelson, Jr. and wife, Cecile R. Nelson; 5 grandchildren, Robert Allen Nelson, III and wife, Julie Smith Nelson, Daniel Russell Nelson and fiancée, Carla Vanessa Davalos, Captain William Walter Nelson and wife, Susanna Meadows Nelson, Jennifer Cecile Buchanan, and Brian Page Buchanan. 2 great grandchildren, Robert Allen Nelson, IV and Scarlett Kelly Nelson; Brother, Col. Stan Hutchins, USAF Ret.; nephew, Michael Farner.
