

Mrs. Carolyn Sterling Wiedeman, a resident of The Vista and Blue Skies West, passed away on January 28, 2015 at the age of 88. Born in Washington, D.C., Carolyn grew up in Long Island, NY. She attended Hofstra University and worked as fashion model at Bergdorf Goodman and fashion houses in New York
She and her husband Geoffrey Wiedeman, Brigadier General USAF (Ret.) were happily married for 67 years. They had one child, Geoffrey, Jr., Major General USAF (Ret.) and a Hand Surgeon in Sacramento, CA. Her daughter-in-law Sandra Pent Wiedeman, is a Nurse Practitioner. She has two grandchildren, Sean Wiedeman and his wife, Laurie Wiedeman, and Meredith Wiedeman and her husband, Kevin Slemp.
During her husband's active Air Force duty years she traveled with him on his stateside duty assignments, which included New York, Washington, D.C., Alabama, New Jersey, and Texas. They also shared two overseas assignments, four years in London and three years in Tokyo.
After Geoffrey retired from the Air Force in 1974 they built a house in the Windcrest neighborhood of San Antonio, TX. Carolyn designed the house on ¼ inch scale on yellow lined paper. The architect, who drew the blue prints, said he was proud to put his name on it without change. She took pride in her indoctrination of the wives of health care professionals whose husbands were entering the Air Force under the draft in the 1960's at the Air Force School of Health Care Sciences.
She and Geoffrey had an active local civilian life. They were involved with the San Antonio Symphony, the Bexar County Medical Society and San Antonio Zoo. Carolyn was the editor of the San Antonio Symphony League Cookbook and was on the San Antonio Symphony Board of Directors for 16 years. She was the President of both the San Antonio Symphony League and the Texas Association of Symphony Orchestras (TASO). She chaired the TASO State Conference when it came to San Antonio in 1982.
She is survived by her husband, Geoffrey Wiedeman, the love of her life. She is also survived by her sisters Sally Ludlow and Virginia Willits, her son, Geoffrey, and his wife Sandy, and her grandchildren Sean and Meredith.
