

Born in Mexico City on July 17, 1919, his family moved to San Antonio around 1927.
Carroll attended San Antonio Academy, Peacock Military Academy, and graduated from Baylor University in December 1948, after a 5-year stint with the Army Air Corps.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Grover C. and Maria Shoaf, and by his son John Martin Shoaf.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Ruth Marting Shoaf; sons, Tom and spouse, Diane and Robert and spouse, Martha; daughter, Nancy Shoaf; grandchildren, Tom Jr., Katherine, Jamie, Ben, Sam, and Julia; brother, John H. Shoaf and spouse, Elizabeth; sister, Mary Anne Holick and spouse, Hugh; sister-in-law, Virginia Rueter; brother-in-law, John Marting and spouse, Marjorie; many nephews and nieces,; friend, Priscilla Maese and daughter, Miranda.
He felt fortunate to enjoy his travel over many parts of the world with Ruthie. As an active member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church for many years he served in many capacities.
Gifted with a great sense of humor, he endeared himself to many friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church Building Fund, the Vitas Hospice Care, or to the charity of your choice.
