Parker, Annabel, Andrew, and Maxwell, I am so deeply sorry for your loss and I am crushed to hear about your mother. While I have lost touch with you guys over the years I would like you all to know that the time I spent with your family and your mom helped shaped who I am today. I always tell people that if I could live a moment in my life forever I would choose my middle school years. The reason I think that is because of all the great times I had at your house getting into trouble and playing around. Your mom was a big part of all those great memories because she made me feel like I was one of her own. I just remember how proud of us she was during all our sporting events and no matter what, wanted the best for us. Only a great mother like yours could support a bunch of punk kids raiding the Jaffe's or shooting water balloons into Susan's parties. As I write this I can imagine her soft voice, which could sometimes get loud when she was yelling at us. She was a beautiful woman who had a great impact on my life. I forgot to say in my first memory that your Mom would have loved that it rained so hard today and she would have loved all beautiful flowers at her service.

I took some soup to your Mom a week and a half ago and she still was so worried about my yard. She loved all her children so much and we visited many afternoons after she worked in the garden and she would tell me about what all of you were doing. She loved you all very much and I will miss her.

Parker, Andrew, Annabel and Maxwell...I was shocked and so saddened to hear of your dear Mom's passing. Even though I had not seen her or you in a number of years, I remember with such delight the wonderful years when you were all growing up together with Thomas O'Neil. Words cannot begin to express the sadness that I feel for all of you at this very difficult time. It seems too soon, but the loss of our mothers always comes too soon. I hope you take comfort in the love and devotion she gave you and that will live on forever in your memories. She did a great job of raising four wonderful children, who have grown into four wonderful adults of whom I know she was quite proud. Personally, I will be forever grateful to Casey and all of you for being there for me and my three children during one of the most difficult days of my life. I will always have such wonderful memories of Casey. She was a mother figure in my life, growing up as I did spending so much time at the Atherton household, especially in high school. I remain in awe of how much time, energy and love she put into raising her kids. I know how much they all meant to her and how much she means to them. While regretably, Laura didn't get to know Casey well, she really enjoyed the few times she was able to spend with her. We will miss her. Our thoughts are with Parker, Andrew, Anabell and Max. Casey's passing on Mother's Day was divine intervention at its best. She exemplified what a giving, unselfish mother is and was an inspiration to all who observed her parenting. Though small in stature with a voice that was remarkably sweet and distinctive, she had strength in character and conviction that was boundless. Her loyalty as a friend was treasured by all who received it and her sense of style impeccable. The Atherton children are testimony to her purpose and life.
