

Casey Golightly, age 97, resident of San Antonio, Texas, since 1958, died 17 January 2021, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born October 24, 1923 in Preston, Idaho. Merl Dalley Golightly, sixth son of Osborn and Myrtle Dalley Golightly. He joined the Army Air Corps in January 1942. He served overseas in the Marianas Islands and was the LDS Group Leader for his area. Before going overseas, he married Catherine (Kitty) Alden in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Mesa Arizona Temple on February 2, 1944.
After the war he got his high school diploma and attended various business colleges. He worked for the Newspaper Printing Corporation in El Paso, Texas. He worked for the El Paso Natural Gas Co. & Tri-State Credit Men’s Association. He & Jim Vance formed a microfilm company, which in time became Golightly, Payne and Coon.
The offer of managing the National Association of Credit Management, in San Antonio moved the family to San Antonio came in 1958. Because of business legal situations, he changed his name to “Casey.”
In the early 60’s the family spent ten months in New Orleans, Louisiana. The family was glad when he accepted an offer as a vice-president with the Groos National Bank back in San Antonio.
He eventually, began working for Straus-Frank Co., more recently known as Strafco. He spent 20 years with them as Vice President in charge of credit. He retired in 1986.
Retirement brought him the challenge of managing a large bankruptcy case for the Federal Court. The case lasted 13 years.
All of his life he accepted responsibilities in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in many callings beginning with being a ward/home teacher, a Sunday School teacher, Scoutmaster, Stake Missionary, Bishop, and high councilman in the various stakes where he lived. In San Antonio, he was a councilor to President Roland Bremmer, after which he was called as Stake President, where he served for eight years.
During retirement he traveled with his wife through all of Texas, Oklahoma, parts of Missouri and Arkansas to teach and promote Family History and temple work. They also traveled every week to the Dallas Texas Temple to be ordinance workers. He was blessed to become a sealer in 1997. They served an 18-month mission in the Santiago, Chile, Temple 2000-2002.
When the San Antonio Texas Temple was built, he served as Chairman of the Ushers for the three-week Open House. A gargantuan task involving thousands of people and man hours. Casey served with his wife in various temples for 26 ½ years.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kitty Golightly, his daughter, Pauline Golightly Jenson (Hal B. Jenson), his parents, his 8 siblings and most of their spouses: Richard & Una Golightly, Donald & Nona Golightly, Bryant & Vilate Golightly, Orrin & Sylva Golightly, Alma & Ardell Golightly, Mable (Golightly) & Darve Thurgood, Leon & Emma Jean Golightly; his brother Harley Golightly and two great-grandchildren, Katherine Hope Golightly and Oscar Blaine Nascimento.
He is survived by his children and their descendants. They are: Marjorie (Golightly) & Kevin P. Smith (Orem, Utah); George Alden & Jane Golightly (Heber City, Utah); Kenneth Alden & Cynthia Golightly (San Antonio, Texas); Sandra (Golightly) & Daniel E. Nascimento (San Antonio, Texas).
Grandchildren include: Julie (Jensen) & John Zelasko; James & Danielle Jensen, Scott & Nichole Jensen, Brant & Jessica Smith; Kenneth R. & Rachel Golightly, Trish (Golightly) & Josh Packer, Thomas & Shauna Golightly, Kris (Golightly) & Dave Thacker, Cynde (Golightly) & Les Auger; Katie (Golightly) & Scott McCleary, Holly Golightly, George D. & Amanda Golightly; Casey & Marci Jenson, LiAnne (Jenson) & Josh Hammond; Alden Nascimento, Nick & Dill Nascimento, Mike Nascimento, Chloe (Nascimento) & Dan Hovley.
Great-grandchildren include: Josie (Zelasko) & Craig Tingley, Jeremy & Laura Zelasko, Joshua-David & Annie Zelasko, Jordan Zelasko; Britney Ganz, Patrick Ganz, Laurisa & Elias Jensen; Grant, Kennedy, Reagan & Roosevelt Jensen; Colin, Isaac, Olivia, & Nolan Smith; Emily, Kamry, Ashley & Lindsay Golightly; Mike & Jackie, Caleb & Alysa Packer; Tyler, Sarah, Brandon, & Elise Golightly; Seder, Zak, & Cooper Thacker; Isaac, Jayne, Brennen & Evie Auger; Tyler, Bostyn, & Skyler McCleary; Curtis, Jazmin & McKayla Jenson; Fitzpatrick, Swede & Ruana Nascimento; Noriella Nascimento; Maxwell, Xavier, Anna, Samuel, Alice & Alex Hovley, Olyvia Hammond, Baby Boy Golightly.
Great-Great-grandchildren include: Leon Tingley; Amiella Zelasko; Tucker, Finn, & Charlotte Zelasko.
