Catalina (Kathy) Ortiz, age 67, passed away from this life and into eternal life with her Lord and Savior on Friday, April 26, 2024, peacefully at her home and with her family by her side. Kathy was born on August 22, 1956, in San Antonio, Texas.
She attended Thomas A. Edison High School and was a member of the senior cheerleading squad. Upon graduation from high school in 1974, Kathy began employment with S X Callaghan Inc. In 1976, Kathy switched gears and landed a job with Southwestern Bell Corporation, known today as AT&T. Kathy retired from AT&T, after thirty-five years of service on December 15, 2011.
Kathy is described by her family as having loved many things in life. First and foremost, she loved her family. She loved family gatherings for all occasions, but especially Thanksgiving and Christmas. Kathy also loved traveling. She was always up for a quick trip to visit her family in Fort Worth, Goldthwaite, and Shiner, Texas, spoiling her great nieces and great nephews: Conrad, Emiko, Cambree, Colbee, Cannon and Demi Jo when she arrived. She loved visiting her family in La Vernia, which was not too far from her home, but far enough that she wanted to spend the night and play games with Madison and Jackson.
She liked spending time on the beach in Rockport, Texas. Kathy loved playing softball and was a part of two softball teams in the late 70s through the early 90s. Kathy loved watching the Spurs games at home with her mother. She loved gardening and displaying cute yard decor. Everyone who visited her would always step into a home that was beautifully decorated for the holiday season.
Kathy had a beautiful smile and a beautiful spirit about her. Her family described her as having a strong hardy laugh. Those who loved Kathy know that she was a woman of faith, believing and trusting God with her life. Kathy is also described by her family and friends as someone who you could always count on for help. She loved everyone unconditionally.
Kathy surprised her family by adding two dogs to her household. Kai and Kaycee brought her so much joy. Kathy will always be remembered as a person who loved celebrating the birthdays of others, as well as her own. She would also remember your wedding anniversary. You could count on Kathy sending you a beautiful birthday card, because she believed it was very important to remember and celebrate you, on the day you were born.
