Abrego, Catherine Cavender
Catherine, known to friends and relatives as "Cathy, Cat & CC” passed away on May 19, 2019, at the age of 65 years peacefully in her sleep.
After graduating from Burbank HS, she began her 28 year career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. (now AT&T) at the age of 18 where she worked her way from a Directory Assistance Operator to Manager. Her most enjoyable duties were spent working for the Internal Security dept where she investigated employee theft which would often have to be settled in court. She took pride in the fact that she never lost a case and became known as “Inspector Clouseau.”
Cathy loved helping people and volunteered for numerous organizations, including working with teenagers with the Texas Adolescent Treatment Center, Animal Control Services where she became in charge of the foster program, and was an advocate for the Rape Crisis Center where she helped both adult and child victims. Her most favorite place to help is the Daughters of Charity organization where she donated many things for the elderly over the years and would contribute monetarily.
She had a passion for animals and her house was never without one (some times too many) from cats and dogs to hamsters & birds.
Cathy also loved to read, paint, having plants, and feed the wild birds and squirrels.
She is survived by her three sons Adam (Sandra), Logan (Hallie) and Zachary. 6 grandchildren, Ty & Olivia (Adam & Sandra), Elijah, Nora, Oliver, Henry. (Logan & Hallie).

Cathy was like a second mom to me growing up. My mom, Angie, and her were the best of friends from Southwestern Bell (AT&T). She loved with all heart and saw no flaws in anyone. I will forever be grateful of the time I spent with her and I’ll always remember hearing her beautiful and unique laugh. RIP Cathy, my mom and I love you always and forever. Melissa Serda

My sister-when you left me you took a piece of my heart with you. The pain seems to not go away, I won't let it. I will take care of your monarch butterflies and when they fly off one of them will fly to you so you will know I am thinking of you. I love you sister of my heart always and forever...💔

I am so saddened to hear about Cathy’s passing. We went to high school together, but rarely interacted due to different interests. After our 40th reunion, we reconnected and remained good friends. She was so proud of her sons, and thought the world of her daughter-in-law, especially her grandchildren. I can still see that smile of hers, and that’s how I will always remember her. RIP my dear friend, Cathy!
