If you are seeing my picture today and hearing sour notes, you will know that I am now playing my harp in the corner of heaven. As out of tune as it is, I am in a better place with my Lord, my loved ones, and friends who have gone on before me.
I loved my life on earth and thank the Lord for all the blessings he saw fit to give me while here. I had a precious husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, my family, my friends, and I feel very blessed. I miss you, but please know that I am in a better place.
I was born in Oklahoma City, OK to wonderful parents, Carmen, and Cecil Breeding, with whom I was very close and were so much fun. My formative years found me in Kansas where I graduated from Baxter Springs High School. I have many fond memories of my days in Kansas and Oklahoma and the many special friendships I formed.
College was a diverse experience, all good and fun, but finally ending at Oklahoma State University where I got my degree and met the love of my life and my soulmate.
After marriage and three remarkable children, we moved from Ft. Benning, GA to Washington, DC where my husband was stationed at Ft. Myer, VA in the President’s Honor Guard; then to Tulsa, OK and finally to San Antonio where we put down deep roots to raise our family. We were very active in every phase of school life with our children, our church, our friends, and the military. It was such a special time in our lives.
My husband, Major General Robert G. Ownby was taken from us at a very early age, and I began a new phase of my life as a career woman. It has been a varied walk and I almost have felt like a cat with nine lives!
Frost Bank was my home away from home for the next 26-1/2 years where I made friends, worked hard, and enjoyed the professionalism and camaraderie of such an outstanding organization.
My husband, mom, dad, and brother-in-law are now deceased, but I am survived by my three beautiful children and their spouses: Cary and Bob Ownby; Becky and Joel Smith; Lisa and Jay Clingman; and six cherished grandchildren, Bobby (Katelynn) Ownby; Amy (Dalton) Grieder; Ben Ownby; James (Wesley) Clingman; Brandon Clingman, and Sarah Clingman; five great-grandchildren; my sister, Barbara Sylvan from Tulsa, OK; my brother and sister-in-law, Rebecca and Larry Breeding from Winston-Salem, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a Celebration Service followed by a time of Fellowship at Trinity Baptist Church on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at 12:00 noon. Please click here to view the service.

Thank you to all who shared this walk with me.
In lieu of flowers, please consider your church, JDRF, Military-Civilian Club, and Friends of Hospice.
