

Cecil Gabriel Garza, also known as Gabriel, was born on May 26, 1982, in Lubbock, Texas, and passed away on November 17, 2025, at the age of 43. A resident of San Antonio, Texas, Gabriel was a devoted, faithful, and adventurous individual who touched the lives of many.
Gabriel's early life was marked by his determination, as he earned his GED. He was a devoted son, father, brother, and a man of spirited passions. A diehard Dallas Cowboys fan and an avid basketball player, he found joy in both competition and camaraderie. Gabriel was also a true Rap and R&B music aficionado who kept up with the latest sounds and cherished the classics. Above all, he loved spending quality time with his family, whether at home or admiring show cars as a dedicated enthusiast.
Gabriel is survived by his mother, Janie DeLeon, and stepfather, Hector Gonzales. He leaves behind his beloved daughter, Frances Garza, and her partner, Hector Ruiz, along with three cherished grandchildren: Adrian Anthony Vasquez, Isaiah Cash Garza, and Adelina Mila Ruiz. His siblings, sisters Roxann Melanie Garza and husband Michael Gomez, Michelle Gonzales and husband Michael Gonzales, and brothers Danny Covarrubio, Nick Covarrubio, and Pete Covarrubio, will deeply miss him. Gabriel is also survived by his paternal grandmother, Lidia Flores, and a large extended family including uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil “Boy” Garza, grandmother Juliana DeLeon, grandfather Dionicio DeLeon, and several uncles and an aunt.
Gabriel's warm and friendly smile, contagious laugh, and love for his daughter, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews will be fondly remembered. He loved to joke around and make people laugh, truly being the life of the party. His love for God and his strong faith were central to his life.
A visitation will be held at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, TX, on November 24, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a prayer service from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A committal service will take place at Sunset Memorial Park, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, Texas, on December 5, 2025, at 2:00 pm. Gabriel will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park.
Gabriel's legacy of love, laughter, and faith will continue to inspire those who knew him.
