IN THE CARE OF
Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home
Cecilia “Ce” Yvette Barrera France
Ce passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on January 13, 2023.
She was born in Laredo, Texas on June 21, 1950 to the late Berta Cavazos and Carlos D. Barrera, Sr. Ce spent her childhood years in Brownsville, Texas. She graduated from Villa Maria High School and Davis College. After graduating from college, Ce worked for over 35 years in the food brokerage business.
Ce was a devoted mother and grandmother who will be remembered for her encouraging ways and fierce loyalty. She was creative, crafty, enjoyed making wreaths, decorating, watching movies, going to concerts, and time at the beach. Her most cherished role was that of “CeCe” to her granddaughters. She adored them and they loved her. Ce’s friendships were also very important to her. When she became sick, these visits were a welcome relief and comfort to her.
Ce is survived by her daughter, Monica Allison (Bennett) of San Antonio, Texas and son, Matthew Thees of Lisbon, Portugal. She is also survived by her four beloved grandchildren: Katie Allison, Abby Allison, Caroline Allison, and Lilly Allison, her brother, Carlos Barrera, Jr. (Sherry), her sister-in-law, Miros Barrera Snyder, former husband and friend, Tom Thees, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Berta and Carlos Barrera, her sister, Naomi Cecilia Barrera, her brothers, Carlitos Barrera, Jorge Luis Barrera, Richard M. Barrera, and niece, Miroslava Christina Barrera.
The family is deeply appreciative to her "community of angels" at Villa Tanglewood. We would also like to thank her doctors and nurses, especially, Guiding Light Hospice nurses Kathy and Kim and caregiver, Francoise.
