He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Guadalupe R. Vargas of 68 years, and his daughter, Sylvia V. Saldivar.
He is survived by his children Jose A. ( Susannah) Vargas, Celestino R. Vargas III, Elias (Elena) Vargas, Noemi (George) Bernal, Linda (Armando) Hernandez, Abel (Sylvia) Vargas, and Rene J. (Brenda) Vargas; 20 Grandchildren; 25 Great-Grandchildren; and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
The Visitation will begin on Monday, August 3, 2015, at Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Rd., from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Prayer service to be conducted at 7:00PM. A Chapel Service will begin on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at 9:00 AM with interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
